Before you start
Find a quiet spot with light in front of you rather than behind you, so the other person can see your face. Headphones help reduce echo. Check that nothing personal is visible in the background, such as letters, ID cards or anything showing where you live.
Get better matches with interests
Add a few topics in the interest box on the home page before you connect. If someone online shares one of your interests, you'll be matched with them first, which usually makes the first minute of the call much easier. Specific topics work better than general ones.
Staying safe on camera
Remember that the other person can record what your camera shows. Don't share your full name, contact details or social media accounts, and end the call immediately if anyone behaves inappropriately. Yes, video chat needs a working camera and microphone. If you don't have one, you can still use text chat on the home page.
Why does my browser ask for camera permission?
